El barrio la Universidad es habitado principalmente por estudiantes de la UIS. También está muy cerca el colegio tecnológico y el complejo deportivo de la ciudad. Así que es frecuente ver el entusiasmo de los hinchas del fútbol principalmente. Muy cerca se encuentran tiendas OXXO y supermercados como el D1 en la rotonda del estadio.
